Members of the NRHS-Southern Nevada Chapter donated their time with the first public run of the Nevada State Railroad Museum - Nevada Southern Railway on December 7, 2002. Members of the chapter ran the engines, loaded and unloaded passengers, controlled the passenger track crossing and directed traffic at the site.
