Funeral Rites at Christ the King Catholic Community

We ask that all parts of the funeral rites take place at our church
DAY 1
1. Greeting the body
2. Visitation/viewing
3. Vigil Service-a time for remembering the deceased with music, scripture and the sharing of stories.

DAY 2
4. Funeral Mass-a Mass focusing on resurrection
It is preferable according to the rites of our church to have the body present for the services at the church and to have cremation later. If the body has been cremated before the services, we have an ossuary (container) for the cremains if you wish to use it rather than purchase one.

In Memoriam.... Follow this link to a list of people that died and were buried from Christ the King since October 1, 2003. If our records are incomplete, please call us with the name of the person to add to this list. Thank you!

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Funeral Coordinator Needed!

The death of a loved one is a time when we are most vulnerable. Our Catholic funeral rites are meant to be a healing ritual proclaiming the belief that our life with the deceased is changed, but not ended. Here at CTK we have a Vigil Service which precedes the Funeral Mass the next day, allowing families the time they need to tell stories of their loved one. Readings and music are coordinated with the family at a planning session for both the Vigil and Mass of Resurrection. A meal prepared and served by volunteers is available after the Mass for those who wish it. Without the many volunteers who give of their time and presence, our funeral ministry wouldn't be able to meet the profound need of those who come to us grieving.

The Funeral Coordinator is the person responsible for meeting with the family of the deceased, planning and coordinating the various volunteers and staff (lectors, presider, musicians, hospitality, funeral meal) who make our funeral liturgies the healing experience that they are. We are currently in need of more funeral coordinators. Training is supplied and flexible schedule is important. Please call Mary Jane at the church office, 871-1904.
