It was a beautiful service that memorializes the life and closed the final curtain to the life of Robert Goulet. The highlight of the service was hearing Goulet’s own voice singing “Ave Maria”, “Pull Me Up Lord” “If Ever I would Leave You” and “ Happy Time” It also included a video montage with some of Goulet’s memorable performances. While the service was held at the Roman Catholic Shrine of the Most Holy Redeemer in Las Vegas, Nevada, it was really an inter-faith service. Of course the service included much of the tradition Roman Catholic Christian Burial; it also included songs sung by Cantors Tony Estrada and Joni Yeager and Eulogies by his good friend Don Moomaw Pastor at the Bel –Air Presbyterian Church. The other Eulogies were delivered by his children, daughter Nicolette Goulet, Sons Christopher and Michael Goulet, Dr. David Kipper and Broadway Producer Mike Merrick his friend and former Publicist. |

There were many celebrity entertainers and musicians who came to pay their final respect to the acclaimed Robert Goulet. They included close friends singer Steve Lawrence and Musician Vincent Falcone who were among the Pall Bearer that included his sons, grand sons and other close friends. Jack Jones, Rich Little, Phyllis McGuire, Tony Curtis, Debbie Reynolds and Sonny Turner were among the celebrities who are too many to list that came to say good-bye. |

The service did include stories about Goulet being a parent, friend and performer. However the most touching and heart felt story was told to me prior to the service. It was told by Merrick and Musician Santos Savino. Prior to Fridays, November 9th public funeral on Thursday evening family and close friends gathered to say a more intimate Farwell. The gathering was held at the Goulet’s home and it included the casket with Robert Goulet’s body. Vera and Robert Goulet have four or five cats that hid while most of proceedings went on. Like the public service the private one had the coffin leaving the building following a bag piper. The cats upon hearing the bag piper and coffin leaving all gathered and lined up in a very stately fashion bid the master of the house goodbye. Once the coffin left the house and the door closed the cats hid again. Robert Goulet’s epitaph shall read: “He left them smiling!” I felt that last story encompassed that feeling. |

Frankie Dee and Zee Matulonis were among his fans that were present at this remembrance event that was filled with laughter, music and stories about Villa who died in DecemberThis event was mean to remember and celebrate Villa's life. Like other such events there were music, singing, story telling and laughter. However this event will also hold precious memories for another wonderful man, Frankie Dee Dematto passed away two days later on April 4, 2006 at the age of 91. Even though 91 he never let his age stop him from enjoying life. He often attended several daily events and attended entertainment six nights a week.Oetrillo sang "My Way" at Frankie;s funeral Saturday April 8 and said "Frankie would of been very popular in Florida becasue he drove at night". He was often designated night driver even in Vegas, He is going to miss by all of us who loved and called him our friend.ECE will dedicate our spring event to celebrating his life and is inviting everyone to bring memories and stories about our friend Frankie "Dee" DeMatto |

SONNY KING CELEBRATION (Click Here for More Photos) |
Sonny King opens his party by singing,"There's No Business Like Show business". |
Sonny King celebrated his birthday and 3rd anniversary of His Off The Cuff show on Friday April 2nd. This man is a real living legend in Vegas a town known for celebrity imitators. He was the partner of Jimmy Durante for 35 year this vintage Vegas legend first started out in New York rooming with Dean Martin. He often tells the story about how they were both so poor that they would share a 15-cent breakfast at a restaurant. The breakfast included a cup of coffee, orange juice and two donuts. One would go in, order the breakfast, drink ˝ of the coffee and Orange juice. The other one would come in, say there was a message waiting. then sit down and finish the rest of the meal. However the owner knew what they wren about and gave them both breakfast. They tried it also with a deli down the street with the owner being similarly generous. When both Dean and King made it big they went back to pay up their dept to both of these generous men. They had to go out of their way too, to located the former deli owner. That is just one of the stories King tells in his Off The Cuff show in between performing his songs and hosting the show. He has performed most weekends at Bootleggers for the past three years, except for his occasional trips to perform “back east”. All of his friends and fans turned out to help him celebrated this momentous occasion. They all sang and told stories about the legendary Sonny King. I though since as the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words, a photo show and tell might be appropriate for this very special event. |

IN MEMORY |
In front Liz Ranay surrounded by From Left: Karen Liberman, PR Icon, Terry Moore and Stella Stevens, Actresses and Columnist Poly Peluso |
Polly Peluso and Anna Nicole Smtih |
Memories by Polly Peluso, Photos from Polly Peluso's files. LIZ RANAY: Many friends of Liz Renay, including myself will sure miss the ever cheerful and interesting Liz. Liz was famous and also infamous in her lifetime. While she was incarcerated in prison, because she would not testify against mobster Mickey Cohen, Liz wrote her first best seller "My Face For the World To See". Then she wrote The First One Thousand Men" while doing 80 beautiful paintings Liz was a multi talented and multi facet person. In addition to be a "stripper", an actress starting in so many "B" movies, a talented singer that wrote her own lyrics and songs. She was the firstwoman who ran down Hollywood completely naked because of a dare. Never afraid to put herself out there, she lived life to the fullest. In her personal life she was always a devoted Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. Liz became one of my best friends when I moved over to Las Vegas after a successful career of my own in Hollywood. Although her health was much worse then mine, she was always calling to see about me. I will truly miss Liz Ranay. ANNA NICOLE SMITH: This photo of Anna-Nicole Smith was taken at the 2005 Academy Awards. We knew each other thru our connection with Playboy.I was the director of Playboy Models and she was Playmate of the Year. She was always very friendly and nice and would chatter freely with me |

MARVIN "SWEET LOUIE" SMITH SEPTEMBER 25, 1939 - DECEMBER 15, 2007 |
A FRIEND LIKE SWEET LOUIEThis is a poem I found on the internet. It is by an Emma Guest. It was not titled but I call it A friend Like Sweet Louie, You can silently add Sweet Louie in the appropriate places A friend is like a flower A rose to be exact Or maybe like a brand new gate That never comes unlatched A friend is like an owl Both beautiful and wise Or perhaps a friend is like ghost Whose spirit never dies A friend is like a heart the goes Strong until the end Where would we be in this world If we didn’t have a friend. |
