Rachel Grubb looks forward to new female-directed zombie project being shot in Las Vegas
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 27- Chad Clinton Freeman

Scream Queen Rachel Grubb has nabbed the lead role in the upcoming Teresa Fahs' film "Haunting Kira," which will shoot in Las Vegas in early 2010. The official announcement was made the day after Comic Con International in San Diego wrapped.

Grubb, the star of the indie horror films "Terror Overload," "Tales of the Dead," "13 Hours in a Warehouse," "Strip Club Slasher," "Camp Kill" and "Cave Women on Mars," said she can't wait to get started on the project.

"I love the script," Grubb said. "It's funny and original with lots of gorey goodness."

With close to 30 projects under her belt already and being a fan of the works of David Cronenberg, Dario Argento and Debbie Rochon, Grubb knows a thing or two about horror films. So fans can trust her when she says "Haunting Kira" is unlike any other zombie movie.

"Seriously, it's nothing like the majority of zombie movies," Grubb said. "Most zombie movies are about the world being chased by animated corpses, and the living having to fight to stay alive. This is only about one zombie, and it's not an epidemic. Instead, it's about a spirit who's discovered a way to infiltrate a corpse. It's a zombie, but this time, the audience has this relationship with his mind. He feels what's happening to him in the rotting vessel and we experience that along with him."

Fahs, a special FX makeup artist for the past decade, has said the script was partly inspired by the works of Stanley Kubrick, Wes Craven and George Romero. Grubb said, she can definitely see that.

"The gore is oozing from every page, and it keeps getting weirder," Grubb said. "The whole time I was reading it, I was imagining the awesome FX work (Fahs) could do on it."

Fahs is the CEO of Gorify.com, a one-stop special effects make-up resource for the do-it-yourself zombie. She has written and is currently seeking funds for "Haunting Kira," which she plans to direct in January and release theatrically on Mother's Day.

"I'm excited about working with a female director on a horror feature," Grubb said. "There needs to be more of that."

Grubb, who is in David Byron's latest book "Queens of Scream: The New Blood" along side Brenna Lee Roth ("Killer Biker Chicks"), Bianca Barnett ("Albino Farm"), Nikki Homicide K ("Zen: Hunter"), Seregon O’Dassey ("Ghost Watcher 2"), April Monique Burril ("Chainsaw Sally") and Monique Dupree ("Bachelor Party in the Bungalow of the Damned"), will be co-producing the film through one of her two production companies in association with Fahs' Gorified Films and Chad Clinton Freeman's Polly Staffle Films.

Fahs is ecstatic to have Grubb on board her directorial debut, which she says will be not only bloody, but also sexy.

"I had the pleasure of working with Rachel on a short project a few months ago, and I'm thrilled to have such a talented horror actress as my lead," Fahs said.

Fahs, dubbed the Godess of Gore by her fans, has described her film as a ghost story, a zombie film, a gorefest, and a strange trip that is like "Being John Malkovich" meets "The Shining" meets "Night of the Living Dead."

She has also promised the film will be filled with paranormal activity, re-animated and decaying corpses, painfully realistic gore, frenzied and meaningful kills, thought-provoking nudity and an ending that she hopes will make audiences want to see it all again and again.

Already the film has been offered distribution and is getting quite a bit of buzz online, including genre site ArrowintheHead.com, which has said the film has "major potential."

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Las Vegas indie film to star madman from original Friday the 13th, as well as a number of Scream Queens

August 24 Chad Clinton Freeman

The first actor to play the iconic madman of the highest grossing horror franchise of all time, the better half of the "Re-Animator" and a duo of upcoming Scream Queens have been added to the cast of Teresa Fahs' zombie project "Haunting Kira."

It was announced in July that Rachel Grubb, star of the indie horror films "Tales of the Dead," "13 Hours in a Warehouse," "Strip Club Slasher," "Camp Kill" and "Cave Women on Mars," will play the film's lead character, a ghost that has reanimated a rotting corpse. Now not only have fellow Scream Queens Monique Dupree and Donna Hamblin joined the cast, but so has Ari Lehman, best known as Jason Vorhees of "Friday the 13th" and Katheen Kinmont of "Bride of Re-Animator."

Lehman portrayed young Jason rising from the dark waters of Crystal Lake at the end of Sean Cunningham's 1980 classic. The actor since went on to become a musician and currently fronts the metal band First Jason. In 2006, Lehman got back into acting and has since appeared in five indie horror films.

"I got a chance to work with Ari on 'Terror Overload,'" Grubb said. "He was a blast to work with, and quite hilarious as Ray Rae in the 'Mongo Chupa' segment. I knew he would be great."

"Haunting Kira" producer Chad Clinton Freeman (Regan Redding's "Killer Biker Chicks," Shane Ryan's "Amateur Porn Star Killer 3D," "Super Undead Doctor Roach") said Lehman will be playing the role of a cab driver when "Haunting Kira" shoots in Las Vegas in early 2010.

"Jason Vorhees driving a cab, loose on the streets of Las Vegas; If that's not scary, I don't know what is," Freeman joked. "But seriously, casting Lehman is one of the many fun things we have planned with this project. Hopefully we will be able to disclose all casting details before Halloween so that genre fans can get as excited about this movie as myself and writer/director Teresa Fahs are."

Among the talent the duo is excited about are their Scream Queens. So far they have nabbed Katheen Kinmont, who was also Kelly Meeker in "Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers," and three of horror's up and coming beauties. Monique Dupree, Donna Hamblin and Rachel Grubb are all featured in David Byron's latest book “Queens of Scream: The New Blood.”

Dupree, who has starred in close to 30 films, is often referred to as the First Black Scream Queen. Recently she appeared in "Skeleton Key 2: 667 Neighbor of the Beast," "Plan 9," "Satan Hates You" and "Bachelor Party in the Bungalow of the Damned."

Hamblin has become a regular in the recent works of Ted V. Mikels ("Astro-Zombies M3: Cloned," "Demon Haunt ," "Cauldron: Baptism of Blood") and can also be seen in the grindhouse throwbacks "Killer Biker Chicks" and "At the House of Madness."

"I am excited to be added to what already is shaping up to be a great cast," Hamblin said. "I'm looking forward to working with Rachel and Monique, and I can't wait to see who Chad and Teresa announce next."

Other talent already nabbed for the film includes Ted LeBlang ("Dirty Martini"), Derek Houck ("Absent"), Kim Sønderholm ("The Horror Vault," "Craig"), Leo Limauco ("Devotion"), Reagan Pfifer ("Black Sunday"), Erik A. Williams (Eric Stanze's "Ratline," "The Heart: Final Pulse"), Joe Hammerstone ("Monsterpiece Theatre Volume 1," Kevin Strange's "CockHammer") and newcomers Daniel Nagelhout and Alexis Borghi.

"This is a sort of who's who in independent horror," Freeman said, pointing out the film will be Michael Su. It will be the third zombie film for the director of photography. Su previously shot and directed "The Revolting Dead" and "Doomed." He also directed, the yet to be distributed, gem "My Demon Within."

Fahs, dubbed the Goddess of Gore, has described "Haunting Kira" as a strange trip that is like "Being John Malkovich" meets "The Shining" meets "Night of the Living Dead." Erik A. Williams, also an associate producer on the film, has said he feels it's "a thrilling take on horror and a genuinely great ghost story."

Already the film has been offered distribution and is getting quite a bit of buzz online. Former "Lifestyles Of The Rich and Famous" host Robin Leach has blogged about it and genre site ArrowintheHead.com has said the film has "major potential."

Vampires invade Las Vegas with LIVE EVIL on Oct. 30
Las Vegas premiere of horror film will be free event at true grindhouse theater

August 18 Chad Clinton Freeman

Just in time for Halloween, PollyStaffle.com presents the Las Vegas premiere of "Live Evil" with a free screening at the Sci-Fi Center.

The one time only showing of this independent vampire action film, starring Tim Thomerson ("Near Dark," "Trancers"), Ken Foree ("Dawn of the Dead," "The Devil's Rejects") and Scream Queen Tiffany Shepis ("Chainsaw Cheerleaders," "Nightmare Man"), will be October 30th at 9 p.m.

The event will also feature giveaways, and Q&A and autograph sessions with the cast and crew.

Directed by Jay Woelfel and produced by Mark Terry, "Live Evil" tells the story of vampires having trouble surviving in a world where the blood supply has become polluted by drugs and STDs.

"I am basically a part time resident of Las Vegas, especially during football season," Terry said. " One of my goals was to have a screening here because if there was one city in the world that would 'get' this movie it would be Vegas."

The film gets a limited theatrical run starting September 18 via Monogram Releasing and will play 300 screens. It won't be seen in Vegas until Oct. 30 and makes it way to DVD and VOD (video on demand) on November 3.

"Live Evil" also stars Lee Perkins ("KatieBird*Certifiable Crazy Person"), Chuck Williams ("Bubba Ho-tep"), filmmakers Jeff Burr ("Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre III") and Sean Cain ("Silent Night, Zombie Night"), Scream Queen Elissa Dowling ("Amateur Porn Star Killer 3D: Inside the Head"), Porn Star Jenny Hendrix ("Not Three's Company XXX") and more.

Fangoria Magazine has called "Live Evil" one of the top three low budget indie films they have caught this year and the St. Petersburg Times has said it is a cut above "the usual splatter flicks."

Located at the northwest corner of the Commercial Center (right off Sahara on 2520 State State, Las Vegas, NV 89109), the Sci-Fi Center is a comic book and film geek's paradise. Owned by William Powell, the store houses a true grindhouse movie theater dubbed "The Underground Screening Room" that showcases arthouse, horror, cult, science fiction, fantasy and independent cinema not usually available at traditional theaters in Sin City.
