When Dr. Ralph Smedley developed the Toastmaster Educational Program in the early 1900’s, he intended the club to be the learning center for its members. Where the members prepare and present manual speeches before their fellow members, who evaluate the presentations and help the member improve. Members also learn by watching and listening to other speakers and by participating in other meeting roles, such as Toastmaster, Table Topics Master and Timer. This is all a very important part of our learning experience. The Toastmasters club, besides speeches, also includes a leadership track, where members acquire and practice the skills necessary to be an effective leader. You don’t have to be a manager or supervisor to be a leader. Leadership opportunities present themselves every day. Some only take a few moments, some take days or more. Each leadership opportunity provides the chance to improve your standing and respect to others. It also makes you feel stronger and more confident.
We invite all those who seek better communication and/or leadership skills to join us on our journey.
Our meetings are held every Thursday at noon at the Embarq building on 330 S Valley View Blvd. Visitors are always welcome. Come check us out.
