NEVADA OLD-TIME FIDDLERS - Letters from Our Visitors

A nice letter from June visitor Nancy Brooks...We were priviliged to have Nancy Brooks (member of Connecticut's Bristol Old Tyme Fiddlers Club, Bristol, Ct) her husband Jim and some other family members join us while vacationing here in Las Vegas. Here is the letter (via E-mail) we received from Nancy.

To NOFA:

After contacting NOFA on the internet and being told I could sit in with the group, we decided that's where we were going on vacation this year. I thought it would be great to play with a group on the other side of the country, to hear what songs they played and the different styles. I didn't know what to expect when we got there - would they let me play? Would they like my playing? Are they friendly?

As soon as I walked in, I felt the warmth of the people and knew I was going to enjoy myself there. The people were very friendly and made us feel welcome. It was really a great time but went by too fast! Alot of the tunes were the same ones we play in Connecticut, but I also heard some new ones, which I am hoping to work on.

I'd like to thank everyone for making our trip a very memorable and enjoyable one and we are hoping to catch you again in early October.

Dear Lynn & the fiddlers !	Well, we are finally home, it’s cold , and we have school tomorrow, so I guess it’s back to reality We had such a great holiday, and playing with you guys really made it special Thank you so much for all the running around you did – I didn’t realise the distances involved – it was so kind of you and I’m sorry I wasn’t able to get a nicer gift for you.	The dogs were pleased to see me home, although they’d been very spoilt at mum & dad’s.

And finally, I said to people at practice that we play for the Morris dancers, and no-one knew what it was, so here’s a pic

At least it’s nice to be back by the sea….we live right on the beach. Here’s a pic of the pier…..it’s how I thought Vegas might be ( not really !!) I can well see us returning to Vegas maybe next yr. My dad said we should have done more busking (Performing on the sidewalk - for tips) and next time he wants to come over as our manager!! If you ever visit England please let us know so we can return your hospitality…..Clacton’s a nice town…honest Thanks again for everything Lorraine & Mark xx
